Berlin: City of Visions

2012. Graphic Design

Compiled publication on the political visions that have shaped Berlin and remain in conflict to this day.

City of Visions synthesizes a variety of texts to make an account of five controversial Berlin sites. By alternating between different typefaces, the publication identifies three visions of the city:

- Berlin as showpiece of the Prussian Kingdom.
- Berlin as a city inextricably linked to a complicated history that should be preserved.
- Berlin as a progressive metropolis, not entrenched by history.

A second tool for highlighting political positions are the silkscreen markings that can be found throughout the publication. The markings come in three colours (one of them being transparent) and are tactile signals of the political visions certain pages can be seen to represent.
